Trip to Aceh, Indonesia

先日まで、インドネシアのアチェとジャカルタに出張に行ってました。出張には（ほとんどがインドネシアです）、毎月、若しくは2ヶ月に１回程度、というかなりの頻度で行ってます。アチェといえば、2004年の地震・津波で多大な被害を受け、かなり「有名」になったところです。山や海があり、自然が豊かですごくきれいなところですが、長い間続いていた紛争の影響もあり、貧しい地域です。そんなアチェも、私が訪れるたびに、ゆっくりと着実に復興しています（今回は、新しい４スターホテルが建ってました！）。

Last week, I came back from a business trip. I go once everymonth or every other month, either to Indonesia or the Philippines (mostly Indonesia). This time, I went to Aceh and Jakarta for two weeks. Aceh has become very famous for Tsunami in December 2004. It is a beautiful beautiful place, where you see mountains, oceans, blue sky, etc. It is very rich in natural resources, however, its people have not been able to fully enjoy the benefits due partially to pro-longed conflict.

Anyhow, this was my third trip to Aceh. It has now been almost two years since the Tsunami.

Everytime I visit Aceh, the place is getting better and better (white roofs, temporary tents/houses, have now turned into gray/brown roofs, permanent houses, new restaurants, more stuff in local markets, improvements in our hotel rooms!), slowly but certainly it is recovering!

But some parts still have horrible scars of destruction done by earthquake or tsunami.

I hope I see more improvements next time I visit....
