Mayuko's blog

Since everyone else seems to be doing this... I started as well (although it took me two months to actually publish the first page). We'll see how long it will last...

Seasonal things...

【English】 When you are in the city, and are trapped in a crazy busy work world until it is completely dark outside, it is hard to notice the changing seasons. Of course, frequent travels to countries without seasons will not help. I sadly noticed that a last couple of "change of seasons realizations" came from... Starbucks. For example, beginning of summers, they start selling mango something something.... and around November, they start the fall-winter seasonal drinks in xmas colored paper-cups (as seen in the picture), like Chocolate Mint Mocha and Gingerbread Latte (which, starbucks staff claimed last year, are fall seasonal drinks not holiday-drinks, and really were not available in the end of December....). Then, you know... it is the holiday season!
(my choco mint mocha.. with xmas tree.)

I realized how sad this is... especially being in a country with most distinctive 4 seasons! So I went out to actually see the change of the seasons with my own eyes..

Hamarikyu, located right in the middle of Tokyo among the high-rise buildings (as you can see...) was full of fall colors with changing leaves. I should come here more often. Lots and lots of trees with super amazing colors...a pretty tea house... and you can even walk along river (or a bay or something). If you come to Tokyo, you should certainly visit here! I highly recommend.

A Gingerbread Latte is a fall seasonal drink and not a holiday drink?! What kind of logic is that? Actually, I think they should be available year-round. :-)

Clearly the Japanese Starbucks logic... but remember, the Christmas lights come down on 12/26, right?
