フィリピンのマニラとダバオへ出張に行ってきました。　ダバオはフィリピンのミンダナオ島に位置しており、ミンダナオ島というと内戦のイメージがあるかもしれませんが、ダバオ市はミンダナオ島でも比較的安全な都市です。安全だけど、内戦の影響があった/あるミンダナオ島中・南西部に近いということで、開発支援等の拠点として、関連機関の事務所もたくさんあります。　非常に自然が豊かできれいなところですよー。　パイナップル、バナナ、ドリアン等のフルーツでも有名！

ダバオで、去年はまったのが。。。果物の大様ドリアン。それまでは嫌いでも、特別好きでもなかったのに、昨年ダバオに来て、完璧にはまりました。ダバオのドリアンは格別おいしい気がする。インドネシアで食べたのはそんなにおいしくない気がしたのに。。（ただ単に、その時食べたものの種類が悪かったか、時期が悪かったのかもしれませんが。。。）

ということで、今回もトライ。。。あのクリーミーな食感。。あーやめられない。

ダバオでは、もうひとつ、ポメロという巨大な八朔みたいな果物も有名なのですが、今回は買うのも・写真とるのも忘れてました。ダバオからマニラに戻る便の荷物コンベアには、いつも何十箱ものポメロがどーっと積んであります。。。どうやら、ダバオからのおみやげは、ポメロが人気の様子。

My first business trip of the year was the Philippines.　I went to Manila and Davao. 　I really like Davao, which is located in the island of Mindanao. You may hear Mindanao and think that it is a dangerous place with conflict and all, but Davao is a relatively safe place. For this reason, many offices of development agencies or NGOs are located in Davao.

Lots of pineapple and banana plantations are located in and near Davao, which is also a city famous for various fruits. Last time when I was in Davao, I was introduced to durian, and I was really hooked. This was not the first time I had tasted durian, but it sure was the first time that I thought it was really good. Something was different with durians in Davao, maybe I just had a good kind, or I had it in a good season. Anyway, so again, I tried. ahh... that creamy and super sweet taste... I was satisfied with my trip.
