Meeting Mr. Shark

週末にサムイ島とタオ島に行ってきました。 現実逃避って最高ー！

バンコクから約1時間、サムイ島に飛んで、その日はサムイ島のビーチに沈む夕日を見て宿泊。


翌朝、サムイ島からタオ島へ（スピードボートで約1時間半）。２本もぐり、夕方までにはサムイ島に戻って、ビーチでのんびり。次の日はサムイ島の海で遊んで夕方バンコクへ。月曜の休みを取っただけで、こんなVacationができるバンコクってさいこー。

先月やっとライセンスを取った私は、タオ島でのダイブが、ダイバーとしての初ダイブ。


タオ島は、ジンベイザメの出没で有名。すっごく会いたかったんだけど、今回は会えませんでした。でも。。。海のなかは、水族館状態。　熱帯魚の群れがところ狭しと泳いでる。　「この魚」の魚群に囲まれながら泳いで、ジンベイザメではないサメにも遭遇し。。。

私が見たサメは、すっごい怖い顔つきのかなり大きいサメ。他の魚の群れたちを囲うみたいにぐるぐる旋回。。。。ダ－ダッッ、ダ－ダッッ、ダ－ダッッ。。。。　頭のなかでJawsのテーマソングが流れた一瞬でした。

I took a long weekend to dive in Koh Tao (Tao Island in Thailand) . I stayed in Koh Samui, which is a nearby island that's a little bigger than Koh Tao. It had beautiful beaches, so clean, so clear, so beautiful!!! (Left picture is Koh Samui)


A 1.5 hours board trip to Koh Tao, a famous island with lots of diving spots. I heard that divers can see whale shakes here and I really really wanted to see it....
I went along with another friend of mine from work. Besides us, there were about 10 divers on a boat trip, from all over the world. We did 2 dives, at Chumphon Pinnacle and at the White Rock. It was absolutely amazing. I was swimming with large schools of fish, with beautifully looking rocks and corals. Unfortunately no whale-shakes were in my sight, but..... I saw another kind of shark.... really mean looking one, quite big too. I could hear the Jaw's theme song playing in my head..... but I suppose it wasn't a man-eating kind, since no one is running (or swimming) away.

After our diving trip to Koh Samui, we went back to Koh Samui, just relaxed on the beach, had wonderful dinner, nice drinks..... overall fantastic little vacation. I just love the fact that Bangkok is so close (within a few hours) from these vacation destinations! Where should I go next....
